Language Tuition - Talk & Participate - Walk & Explore - Visit marvellous places - Good food & wine - Learn & Enjoy!

Two morning sessions daily of 1½ hours each : language activities, vocabulary, fluency, practice. The first session will be more of a general nature, while the second will prepare participants for the cultural activities in the afternoon.

Afternoons : guided walks and excursions around a specific theme, related to the morning's preparation and offering ample opportunity to inter-react with the leaders and specialist guides.

In Paris, the themes will range from the Middle Ages, through the Renaissance, Baroque & Classical periods, to Haussmann's Paris and through to the 21st century. The programme will include guided visits to such places as Montmartre, Le Marais, the Opera Garnier, the Middle Ages Museum (Cluny, which houses, amongst other wonders, the celebrated Dame à la Licorne, the Carnavalet (Musuem of the History of Paris), Orsay (the national impressionist art museum), the crypt of Notre-Dame, Versailles, as well as visiting markets, covered passages and "galeries marchandes", furniture and fashion shops, not forgetting the Père-Lachaise cemetery!

Daily menus will offer a wide range of national and regional cuisine. Special attention is given throughout to all dietry needs (eg. vegetarian or gluten-free meals!).

The first part of your programme will take place in Paris : you will visit not only the celebrated places, but discover as part of the course many less known and more secret spots! The "passages couverts" in Paris were once the equivalent of the commercial centres of today! Each day in Paris a different theme is explored linguistically, historically, culturally - for example : a study of Paris through the "places", building façades, decorations & ceilings! (Here the Place Vendôme) The façades can tell you much of the history and society of Paris over the centuriesGroup meals are always an occasion to be enjoyed - great attention is paid to menus, - and to dietry requirements when necessaryTravel to Aix-en-Provence and back on the world's fastest rail train!Aix-en-Provence is often voted by the French as one of the best places in which to live - and the same is true for the visitor! One of the themes to be studied in Aix will obviously be around the painter Paul Cézanne, greatly influenced by the mighty Montagne Sainte Victoire which dominates the town (and much of his painting!)
