TWO WEEKS AT THE CAVILAM in VICHY
The CAVILAM, affiliated to the Université de Clermont Ferrand is arguably the finest university institution in France for the teaching of French as a foreign language. Each day you will have five hours of compulsory language classes, plus an optional extra two hours a day in the media resources centre. Evening social activies and an all-day excursion at the weekend are also included.
ONE WEEK IN NEVERS
Your week in Nevers is full of activities. Your host family is reponsible for the two weekend programmes and will make sure that you speak French constantly! The programme Monday-Friday is rich in varied activities through which you discover the history, architecture, art, society and culture of the region : highlights include the important Celtic Museum at Bibracte, the old Roman capital of Autun, the World Heritage centres of Vezelay and Bourges, and a private visit to Vauban's château Bazoches. In Nevers itself you will discover the ducal palace and learn about the history of faïence which gave the town a world-wide reputation in the 17 -18th centuries. Visits to local primary and/or secondary schools are arranged, and you will be able to discuss with local municipal authorities. In addition you will be taken to two excellent restaurants!
In Paris, you will have five days of extremely intensive activities, part of the programme being adapted to your own particular interests, while your specialist guide, Marjorie, will help you discover Le Marais, Montmartre and the Impressionist Museum. You will visit Radio France, the Sénat, the Sorbonne. Cinema and theatre evenings are an integral part of the programme.
Friday 30 January : final assessment day, round-table review of activities, oral presentation of a topic which has interested you, - and the evening Farewell Dinner.
THE COST includes : all accommodation (on a bed & breakfast in the Mije hostel in central Paris, supplement payable for hotel), two "festive" meals in Paris, half board in Vichy and full board in Nevers; all train travel - Paris-Vichy-Nevers-Paris; Travel Pass in Paris; all tuition fees Cavailam/Cpederf; all cinemas, theatres, café-théâtres as part of the official programme; all outings, guided visits, excursions, guided walking tours, museums and monuments in the programme. With the exception of meals in Paris and lunch in Vichy (where you can eat in the "restaurant universitiaire" if you so choose), all your expenses are catered for by the "stage" costs. (What you spend in addition is of course your own affair, but you will have very litlle free time!)
